PWN Barcelona - "Working Parents, Working Together"

14 June 2019 09:00 - 11:30 Vistaprint

When the European Pillar of Social Rights includes an initiative to support work–life balance for parents and carers, how far do companies go to improve the work/life balance and parental leave?

This session will explore two key areas for working parents:

1. What are the main challenges for working parents?

2. What can companies do to support working parents?

We are delighted to be joined by Carl Radley, husband, dad to two young boys, full time employee and part time BBQ enthusiast. Originally from the UK and now very settled in Barcelona, Carl has carved a career in Client services and Account Management whilst trying to establish the much sought after “work-life balance”.

“I think there is still a very much outdated misconception that working dads come home from a busy day at work to slippers, dinner on the table and organized bliss in the home. The truth is that the hard work generally starts when I leave the office each afternoon”

Hilary Strong is Founder & Director of The Brandbean, a market research and branding agency working across Latin America and Europe. Mother to a four year old boy, she, her team and her family have all had to make changes in order to accommodate her shifting roles.
"We are lucky in the agency that as a small team we have a lot of flexibility - but as the only parent amongst us, it hasn't always felt easy to manage different priorities whilst still growing the business and creating great client work. It's a cliche, but it is a question of constant juggling and supreme organisation, not just for me but the team too."

Angela Guedes leads the Customer Experience team at Typeform, a Barcelona-based SaaS company that specialises in online forms and surveys. Angela is a huge advocate for work-life balance, especially among working mums. As the proud mum of a 20 month old boy and the Manager of a team that includes a future mum and a mum that works remotely from Hungary (!) Angela will share her experiences on how companies can help parents perform at their best in both of these roles.
